Paraschos Family

Today we went to Blackbeard's Cove with my parents. The boys love this place. They played mini golf and games, plus, they jumped in the jump castles, played on the indoor playground and rode go-carts. We had three tired boys when we left. The Sander's Family happened to be going as well so Hank was there as well.

Rhodes is getting pretty good. We just need to work on some patience and waiting our turn. Don't all two year olds have a hard time with that though?

Nikos was so excited to show off his skills for Hank and Mr. Darren.

Rhodes was really into putt putt for the first 10 holes, but then he just wanted to goof off.

This was the first time we tried the go=carts, thanks Darren. I was a little nervous to do this so Granddaddy took over. They had a good time and I am pretty sure next time we won't be riding the go-carts last. : )

Waterfront Park

I promised the boys we would have a picnic because the weather has been so nice. Of course, the next day it was chilly. A promise is a promise so we bundled up and headed to waterfront park in Mt. Pleasant with my friend Amy. The boys enjoyed playing on the playground and walking up the pier.

They were checking out the Yorktown and spotting dolphins. They also stopped to ask every fisherman if they had caught anything. I think it was a slow day. Nikos also found a "sleeping" hermit crab. I convinced him to leave it at the pier because that was his home. He really wanted to take it home to show Daddy.

We found a sunny spot on the grass and enjoyed our picnic.

These are some of the dolphins we saw. It was a wonderful morning with the boys and it reminded me how lucky we are to live in such an amazing city. We heart Charleston!

Happy New Year!

On New Year's day we of course ate our black eyed peas and collared greens. We also let the boys do some sparklers. They loved them. Theo help Rhodes with his and managed to step away just so I could get a picture.

Christmas with Nana and Grandaddy

My parents were able to come shortly after Christmas to spoil the boys a bit more.

They were very excited and waited by ther door to see them pull up. Even the dogs were excited.

Nikos put all the new presents under the tree.

It's Christmas!

Rhodes woke up very early Christmas morning. We tried to keep him in our bedroom until Nikos woke, but we gave up after a bit. He went out to the living room and got to playing with his new toys. Theo and I went upstairs to wake Nikos up and he very excited to come see what Santa had brought.

Some presents were wrapped, so they tore into those after they scoped everything else out.

Nikos loved all of his new Star Wars toys.

Rhodes was just as excited about the dog toys as his own toys.

After all the presents from Santa were unwrapped, we headed over to the tree. We had our family presents, some presents from friends, and some presents from Yia yia and Pa.

It took all day, but Nikos and Rhodes played with every toy.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

We had several important things to get done before Christmas day.

Nikos had saved part of his gingerbread house to finish up with Daddy.

He was very proud of the final result.

We had to say goodbye to our elf, Vitt. This was his last appearance. He left a note that he had been wrapping and packing presents all night with Santa. There were some clippings in his hands from the paper he and Santa used for the boys presents.

Nikos, Rhodes and Woody put out the reindeer food that Nikos had made at school.

Last we had to set out the milk and cookies for Santa. Most of them were eaten in the process, but they managed to save two for Santa. I am pretty sure it was because they didn't like those. : )

Santa Claus

Nikos was excited to see Santa and tell him what he wants for Christmas. Rhodes wouldn't even sit in his lap at all! We tried to just put him there even though he was screaming, but he would start kicking so hard that it was impossible.

Tis The Season

We have been enjoying the holiday season and all it has to offer.

Our elf Vitt is up to some mischief and has been playing tricks on the boys.

We went to a cooking decorating and swap party.

Nikos picked out the perfect tree!

Nikos's school had a Christmas concert and he knew all the songs.

For Thanksgiving, we went to Uncle J's and Aunt Margaret's house in Cumming. GA. Yia yia and Pa were there as well. It was fun to get all the cousins together to play and celebrate recent birthdays.

The Coastal Carolina Fair

We went to the fair with some friends and it was so much fun. We ate horrible fried foods, rode carnival rides and played games.

Nikos has enjoyed taking karate after school. He actually had a belt test today and passed so he gets a yellow belt! Yay Nikos!

Rhodes's school has an animal parade for Halloween. All the toddlers dress up as God's creatures and walk around the church grounds. It was really cute. Rhodes was a lion.

He really didn't want t o wear his costume, but Buzz helped us out.

Rhodes's Little Man Party!

The invitation.

We had a Little Man themed party for Rhodes's 2nd Birthday. I had so much fun with the decor and food. Above is a birthday banner with a picture from each month of Rhodes's past two years. I loved looking back at all the pictures and seeing how much he had grown.

I kept the theme going with the food. In the center were the mustache cupcakes. I used a mustache mold to make the chocolate mustache toppers. We also had slider which I labeled as Manwiches. Below is a close up of the water bottles.

I also made mustache straws for the kids juice boxes.

I collected cigar boxes from some local shops to use for decorations. They were perfect for displaying our chocolate dipped "pretzel rod cigars".

My mom helped me with most of the food and these newspaper cone popcorn holders were my favorite.

She also helped me make these "graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate snores". Yes, that is supposed to be a play on words.

I made tie and ruffle shirts for all the kids as favors.

They were displayed all around the house.

Inside was a tag that said thanks for coming to celebrate with our little man Rhodes.

Even our pumpkins were in the spirit!

Fun at the Party

We had lots of fun things for the kids at the party besides the food. Rhodes was way to busy eating and playing to stop to get a picture....he looks so annoyed.

Of course we sang Happy Birthday and ate cupcakes.

Rhodes is such a professional at blowing out candles...he didn't need any help.

He is also pretty good at putting down a cupcake on his own.

We had a photo booth at the party for everyone to "make a silly face", and below we had a place for the kids to "color a silly face".

I used the mold, after I was done with the chocolate mustaches, to make mustache crayons.

We played pin the tie on Rhodes.

Nora showed everyone how the straws work.

Paisley and Nikos enjoyed some popcorn. I think they were taking a break from playing Star Wars.

After the party, Rhodes had some time to open and enjoy playing with his new toys. He was one happy boy.

Rhodes started off his day with a treat. He loves sweets and he always begs for these donuts.

Later that day we opened some presents and had some cupcakes. His big birthday bash was the following day.

Rhodes was completely content opening one present and taking the time to play with it. Nikos was so annoyed and wanted to see what the other presents were. Rhodes has spent the better part of the last three days in this chair Yis Yia sent...he loves it!

Finally we got them all open, thanks to Nikos's help, and we got to play!

Next we sang happy birthday and blew out some candles. Rhodes was amazingly good at this.

Back to playing and having Grandaddy put everything together.

Nikos loves Halloween and he looks forward to picking out his pumpkins all year. We told him he could pick out two, but after negotiations and an ATM trip, he came home with five. Rhodes just enjoyed running around.

Toddler Time

Rhodes is enjoying his Toddler Time class. It is at a church in the battery so he gets to enjoy the gorgeous scenery on his buggy rides. I have gotten there a little early a couple times and watched as they push them down the sidewalks. Tourists actually take pics of them which is funny. They are probably in shock at the amount of seersucker and smocking they see...haha!

I think this is Rhodes's favorite part because he gets so excited when he even sees the buggies.

Gone Fishing

Dad mentioned going fishing to Nikos and he really wanted to try it out. We got the poles loaded up and headed to the lake. On the way we stopped to get some crickets. Rhodes was OBSESSED with the crickets. He wouldn't put them down and kept holding them up and saying..."See that!"

Dad took Nikos out on the dock and showed him how to cast the line. He was actually really good at it.

The rest of us enjoyed walking around, sitting and relaxing on the dock. I have so many fond memories of the lake from my childhood. It is so peaceful and beautiful. It was nice to get to go back and share it with the boys.

Grandaddy and Nikos waited...

and waited for a fish, but we weren't having much luck. This might have been because Nikos would only leave the pole in for about 5 seconds before reeling it in to cast again.

We decided to try a new spot. Nikos was by now brave enough to get his own cricket and help bait the hook.

Rhodes was very happy just playing with the crickets. Rhodes hearts crickets : )

Finally Nikos got one! He was so excited that he was screaming and jumping up and down.

Some of Rhodes's new friends didn't make it once he decided to start catching the crickets. This kid is all boy!

Paris Visit

While we were in Paris we got to visit with some family the boys don't get to see very often. Above is a picture with Uncle Jack, my Dad's brother. He wanted to stop by to see them and it was fun catching up. Below is my Grandfather with me and the boys.

They had a blast playing outside while they were there. Mom had an egg hunt for them...we do these year round because they love it so much.

My parents took them to a new place in Paris that had indoor glow in the dark put put...pretty cool!

It also had games, a play area and a train to ride. They could have spent hours here.

Nikos helped Grandaddy put up a swing and both the boys enjoyed swinging in it.

Rhodes's Toddler Time

Rhodes had his first day of toddler time at St Michael's Church downtown last Wednesday. These pictures are from the open house.

Nana was in town and went with us. The first day went better than I expected, but he was a little upset when I came to get him. I think he just gets upset when the other children start to cry. When I dropped him off, he went right in and started playing without looking back. It also helps that a friend of mine is a teacher....he was sitting in her lap when I came to get him. : )

Here we are outside the Rock of Cashel. I think Rhodes just ate some grass or rocks in the picture.

The boys loved running around this place. The country-side was beautiful. It was just what I imagined of Ireland.

Nikos and Rhodes ran and ran until...

SPLAT! Then they ran some more. I knew Rhodes was going too fast so I had already started down the hill. After a brush off, they wanted to climb.

We actually made it inside the castle as well. It had amazing architectural details throughout.

Kissing the Blarney Stone

This is the home of the famous Blarney Stone. It was a beautiful castle and I am so glad we hit the tourist trap because it was so much fun.

Nikos loved the dungeon and made Theo and I crawl all the way to the end with him. Above, I told him to make a scared face. He thought I meant to make a scary face.

That is one very excited boy to be in a dungeon.

Nikos and Rhodes made the very steep climb to the top of the castle to kiss the Blarney Stone and recieve the "gift of gab".

I had no idea the blarney stone was so hard to get to. It is at the very top of the castle, and they have a couple employees that help you hang upside down off the top of the castle to kiss the stone. the above picture shows the line waiting to do it. We immediately realized that Rhodes should have waited at the bottom of the castle.

AND NIKOS DID IT!!! I wasn't sure I wanted him too and he was so nervous, but he had that look on his face. I could tell he would be so disappointed if he didn't. After quite a bit of encouragement, he did it! I made Theo hold him too because I was so nervous. He was so proud and excited so it was worth it.

Kinsale, Ireland

We drove down to the southeast coast of Ireland and stopped in Kinsale for a night. We were excited to see a change of scenery and enjoy the wonderful weather. The view were gorgeous. Nikos also spotted a fair in town so he was happy. I will spare you from the pics of us on all the carnival rides. : )

There were hundreds of boats in the harbor.

Rhodes and Nikos ran around as usual. A good friend in Charleston asked me when we returned home..."How did you control that [Rhodes] in Ireland?" At that time he was running around crazy at the house. The pic above is about the same scene. The answer is that we didn't, but we always set up a perimeter. Haha!

Of course, Nikos is always game for some silly time.

The flowers were no exception here...they were just as beautiful as in the rest of Ireland.

Rhodes had his first ice cream cone while we were there. He is saying cheese in this picture.

The Village of Kinsale was so colorful. I loved this small town.

Bunratty Castle and Folk Village

We made a stop at Bunratty Castle on our journey out of Limerick. It is an entire Medieval village and castle staged as it would have been back in the day. Above is the outside of the castle. Below is a picture of a family room.

Nikos wanted to climb to the top of the tower. It was a very steep climb up a very narrow spiral staircase.

We made it and this was the view!

Nikos also thought the cannons were super cool.

After we walked around the village. There were roosters everywhere...Rhodes would run up and wait for them to crow and burst out laughing.

Adare, Ireland

After our drive to Limerick, we stopped in Adare village for the evening. It is a beautiful Irish village with thatched roofed cottages and many ruins.

We enjoyed a light dinner at one of the local restaurants and walked around the village.

Our waiter told us the gate combination to get in Adare Manor so we went to check it our. It was beautiful. It had two castles and ruins from an Abbey. The boys enjoyed running around in the open green fields and playing. It was a great evening.

More From Dublin

We rode one of the double decker sight seeing bus around the city. It was the easiest way to take in all the attractions with the boys. Plus they got to ride on a really cool big red bus!

They happen to have a family night going on in the crypt of the church which included a magic show, face painting and balloon animals. It was kinda strange, but the boys enjoyed it. Only in Europe can you get your face painted in front of a tomb...: )

There were so many gorgeous buildings in the city.

We stopped and had lunch at this pub. It was the oldest one in Dublin and we had the best food of the trip there.

We also toured Guinness while in Dublin. The boys actually did well on the tour and even got to play in the barley.

St. Stephen's Green, Dublin

We stayed very close to St Stephen's Green in Dublin and the boys were very happy because they had an amazing playground there. Above is the entrance to the park from Graften St.

Nikos was very proud that he climbed to the top of this tree.

There was also a huge pond with ducks, which we fed.

Everywhere we went in Ireland was filled with gorgeous flowers and the park was no exception.

I think we spent half of our time in this park while we were in Dublin, but I am not complaining because it was probably the nicest park I have ever seen.

Fun in Times Square with the Boys

The night before we left for Ireland, we spent in Times Square. Theo wanted to show the boys the "Big Apple". It was raining all night be we still managed to have fun. We hit all the toy and candy stores and let the boys explore. It was fun.

Nikos's First Day of School in the 4s

Nikos has been so excited to return to school. He woke up at 7:00 am, which is very early for him, and announced that he was ready to go. His teacher said he had a great day. He missed the first 2 days because we were in Ireland, so he took in his picture of him kissing the Blarney stone to show his class.

Let's Go Padres!

We stayed just two blocks from the Padre's stadium so we attended a couple games. This is BY FAR the nicest baseball stadium I have ever seen. It is also an amazing place for children.

This is a view from the back of the stadium. Right behind me is a playground. In front of me is a huge screen from which you can watch the game coverage. To the left of me is a huge hill you can lay a blanket on and watch the actual game from center field, or if you are Rhodes, you can run up and down. To the right is a small field where kids can play baseball. There were Padre employees pitching and catching the ball to all the kids who wanted to play...so cool!

There are also seats behind center field where parents can sit while their children play in the sand pit.

The boys had a blast! Did I mention these tickets are only $5.

Fun at Legoland

On the top of places to see in San Diego for Nikos, was Legoland. Theo and I weren't quite as excited because we have recently been to the chaos some people call Disney, and we were worried it would be similar. To our surprise, it was actually really fun. The whole family enjoyed it. I wish Rhodes would have been a little taller, because there weren't many rides he could go on. We also met up with the Lenning family there. Nikos and Lucas love playing together and enjoyed exploring the park with their Dads. It is always a fun time when we see eachother.

One nice thing about Legoland is that on crowded rides, the line wraps around these fenced in play areas (pictured above). That way, the parents can wait in line while the kids play...perfect!

Nikos was pumped to see the Star Wars exhibit. When he saw it, he threw his arms in the air and yelled...Star Wars! Doesn't he look right at home.

Nikos is standing with Lucas in front of the ice worth of Hoth. The Empire Strikes Back is his favorite movie so he loved this display.

All the boys took a little break to dig for dinosaur bones.

Then they went on the dinosaur rollercoaster. If you look close you will see them in the front car.

Randon San Diego Fun

We did some other things in San Diego as well. Bowling is always a hit with the boys so we managed to fit that in.

We went to the La Jolla farmers market which was set up around a large playground. I am telling you, San Diego is great with kids!

We walked around the village of La Jolla.

These boys love their Daddy.

Rhodes took a few naps and became very fond of Nikos's dinosaur so we bought him one while we were there.

Every time we got off the elevator the boys raced to the room. I am sure our neighbors loved this. : )

San Diego Day 2 - Sea World

On day two in San Diego we went to Sea World with the Hardin Family. It was my birthday and I was happy to spend it with our close friends that we don't get to see that often. It was so much fun getting to spend time with Misty, and getting to know Maggie and Cece. We we first got there we spent some time in the kids area. There were rides, games and play areas. This was Rhodes favorite part.

Rhodes ran and ran around this area until he was too tired to stand up.

Nikos enjoyed the rides.

The highlight of our visit was Dining with Shamu. We were able to sit right against the glass and enjoy a buffet style lunch, while Shamu swam and interacted with her trainers. At one point Shamu jumped on the deck right in front of Nikos and Maggie sending a wave of water that splashed against the glass and flowed over the wall by their feet. They were very startled but so excited! Rhodes enjoyed his lunch as well, but he was much more interested in chasing the birds around in the eating area. Oh well, we all had fun!

After lunch we watched the 20 min Shamu show.

One really cool thing Matt and Misty had told us about was feeding the sea lions, so after the show we headed over to try it. Nikos was a very lucky boy because his Daddy bought him 5 trays of fish. Rhodes feel asleep on the way over so Nikos got to do all of them by himself. He really enjoyed it and talked about going back to do this almost every day.

This sea lion loved Nikos.

We returned to the kids area, but there were several more children there than before. We had to wait in line. It was a great day!

San Diego Zoo

On Theo's birthday we went to the zoo with the Hardin and Lummas Families. Nikos really wanted to see the tigers, but we managed to have some fun during the search. We had a great time and it was so nice to see our friends. We don't get to see eachother often, so it was nice to spend the day with them and see the kids play together. I wish they lived closer! Maybe we will meet in SD again next summer. : )

Feeding the Giraffe

We actually went back to the zoo because Nikos wanted to feed the Giraffe. There was a very long line and wait, but we eventually made it and the boys had fun giving them some biscuits. Nikos kept trying to toss his up to the giraffe, but he finally summoned the courage to let the giraffe take it from his hand. Rhodes thought it was funny.

A Raining Day Activity

We had a rainy day in Charleston and the boys needed an activity. I put together this art project for them to do. They both enjoyed it and we will be doing it again soon.First Nikos helped me select the lucky cars and choose which color each cars would be. Then we dipped them in the paint and raced them across the paper.

Rhodes is really starting to enjoy painting and coloring. He had a blast with this project.

After the boys were finished with the paint we had a car wash in the watertable.

First we washed them in the soapy water and then the clean water. I think the boys enjoyed this even more than the painting.

I save all their paintings as use them as wrapping paper for birthday parties. We happen to be going to Neve's party the next day so she was the lucky recipient.

Vegas

Theo and I recently took a weekend trip to Vegas. It was hot there, but it was so nice to escape the humidity of Charleston. Above is a picture of us at Top of the World restaurant. We actually ate dinner here on the evening of the 4th. We planned it so we could see the fireworks show along the strip, but we didn't realize that we would be in for such a treat. We could see fireworks all over the valley. It is hard to tell in the picture, but they were everywhere. It was amazing!

Theo also got in some golf while we were there and it was nice to go watch him play. The weather was great this day. I would have guessed it was only in the 70s.

Syracuse Visit

We recently visited Yiayia and Pa in Syracuse. It was so nice to see them and have a break from the heat. It was anywhere from low 60s to mid 80s. Perfect weather.

The boys played with the grandparents, got cupcakes at the local bakery, played at the park, fed the ducks and even went for a swim.....short swim that is. They weren't used to the cooler water. Theo also took the for a walk around the neighborhood and saw a woodpecker and chipmunks.

We had a great trip...not back to the heat.

Happy Father's Day

For Father's Day, Nikos made a book for Theo. He has been working on this for a very long time. He painted all the pictures and wrote all the words. He gave it to Theo a couple weeks ago because he was so excited and kept telling Theo things about his surprise. I deciced we better go ahead before he completely gave it away.

Nikos also filled out a questionnaire and drew a picture of him with daddy. I can honestly say that no child loves their father as much as Nikos does.

Rhodes got into the Father's Day spirit as well by coloring a picture and decorating the driveway with Nikos for when Daddy came home from work.

We love you so much Theo, and we hope you enjoyed your Father's Day treats!

We took the boys golfing a few nights ago. This is still one of Nikos's favorite things to do. Rhodes has recently taken an interest as well. I don't think Theo will ever have trouble finding someone to play with him. :)

Visit from YiaYia and Pa

YiaYia and Pa were in town for a visit last week. The boys were both sick for the first part of their trip, but they were still very excited to see them. After their meds had kicked in we took Rhodes to Gymboree with Cameron. They had a blast and it was fun to show off for Yia Yia.

We go to Syracuse tomorrow, and have more fun planned for the boys.

First Scots Camp with Hank

Nikos went to Hank's school for a cooking camp. These boys love eachother so they have been looking forward to the all summer. Everyday the kids made a different treat and brought it home with them. They also made aprons, potholders, mugs and a cookbook with the recipes they tried. It was very cute and They had so much fun.

A side story...when I took this picture, it was very sunny and the boys wouldn't open their eyes. I held up two fingers and asked them to tell me how many fingers I was holding up. My plan was they would look and I would snap the pic. Well, instead of telling me, they showed me. That explains the peace signs...haha....so funny.

Lenning Visit

Our close friends, the Lennings, came to visit over Memorial Day weekend. Lucas and Nikos are three weeks apart, and Sam and Rhodes, are about seven weeks apart. They had so much fun playing together and we really enjoyed seeing Les and Stacey. Here are some pictures of the fun we had around the Charleston area. We got a couple sitters and headed downtown for a nice dinner at Halls.

We spent one morning at the aquarium. Rhodes and Theo are not pictured here because all Rhodes does at the aquarium is run and at the moment Theo was chasing him.

Rhodes and Sam really enjoyed the beach, as did their Mommas. Can you believe, Stacey and I were able to pull up some chairs and just relax while they played!?

The big boys were busy playing with their Dads.

We went to the Farmer's Market Saturday morning. They have great food, art and plenty to entertain the kids. Nikos and Lucas had some shaved ice samples while waiting for their crepes.

Rhodes enjoyed a home made strawberry and banana Popsicle.

Last, the boys played in the jump castles. Later that day we went for a cookout at a friends house in the neighborhood. Stacey suggested that we bring a watermelon....Rhodes thought it was a great idea. : )

Nikos's Last Week of School

Nikos had a fun last week at school. Each day was a different theme. Monday was Water day and the kids played outside with water tables and small pools. Tuesday was dress-up day and Nikos wore him Captain Rex costume. Wednesday was Wacky Wed and he wore his PJs with the shirt turned backwards and mismatched shoes. Thursday was team spirit day and he wore his Redskins jersey. Friday was hat day so he wore his fedora.

Nikos's TBall team had an end of season party Saturday morning at the park. The boys were so excited to get trophies. Nikos is very proud of his and has been carrying it around the house. He likes to display it in whatever room he is in so he can admire his hard work : )

Poor sad Rhodes was much happier when I finally gave in and let him spash around in the water and dig in the sand.After we played on the playground while we waited for traffic to clear Today at IOP seven sea turtles were released back into the wild after being rehabilitated in the Sea Turtle Hospital at the SC Aquarium. I wanted to go check it out and it was really amazing. Nikos enjoyed seeing the turtles and it was heart warming to watch as they flopped their way to the ocean and took off swimming. When they entered the water the whole crowed cheered. There was even information about how the turtles were found and how they were treated. Families can make donations toward the care of the turtles. There is a special viewing area right at the ocean for these families to watch. The children of the families made signs with the names of their turtle on them and escorted them to the sea. Maybe Nikos and Rhodes can do it next summer. This experience made me realize even more, what a wonderful city we live in.

My parents have been in town for the past week and we have been busy. Here are some of the things we did...We saw a T-Ball game. Don't make me Mommy!

The poor coach shouts SAME TEAM as he peels the boys off so the kid that actually got the ball can throw it to first. It looks more like a football game than Tball.

We went to the beach this evening with some friends. The boys had a blast and our short visit turned into a 2.5 hour stay. Rhodes loved digging in the sand and chasing the seaguls. Nikos ran around with his friends and collected shels in his dumptruck. With help, I was finally able to drag Nikos off screaming and crying because he didn't want to leave. At least they both ate well...at 8pm.

The Country Club had an Easter Egg Hunt today in front of McLeod Plantation. Rhodes ran himself and us ragged. Nikos had several friends there and enjoyed playing with them. Both boys did well at the hunt and came away with a basket full of eggs. They were over 2,000 eggs so there were plenty to go around.

Rhodes is now 18 months old! I am not sure what is growing faster, Rhodes or his confidence. He is an act first, think later kinda person. I feel like everyday he has a new scrap or bump. He loves to explore, run and climb...which usually gets him in trouble. I have found him on top of every table in the house. He also will climb into his booster by himself when he wants a snack....pretty funny. The other day I caught him trying to climb on top of our bathroom counter tops. He was using the knobs and drawers to do it, but ended up so frustrated that he gave up.

Rhodes has also developed a love for books. He will run around the house holding a book and yelling mama....mama until someone reads it to him. Right now, Rhodes calls everyone mama when he needs or wants something. He is starting to say a few new words as well. like all done, go, up and ball. He is trying to sing too. He hears Nikos and I sing songs and jumps right in. That is how he started saying the word go. Nikos and I were singing the Fresh Beat Band song...Get up and gogo.....do the a go go go go. Rhodes will run around singing that last part.

Rhodes loves his big brother and strives to do/have whatever Nikos has. This is good for me in some ways because they play together so well. Bad because we now must get Rhodes he own, ice cream, slush, toys.....whatever Nikos has. Oh, and you better not even think of helping him with anything.

Rhodes is starting to listen and follow directions, but we have a long way to go. He will listen when I call for him to walk with us or stop before he goes in street. This makes outside time a little easier.

We go to the doc in a couple weeks so I will add the stats then.

Nikos had his first T-Ball game today. It was so much fun to watch. He did a great job hitting the ball and even scooped up a ground ball when he was on defense. I am amazed what these children are capable of at this age. Nikos usually plays second base and I heard him telling the runner that when he gets the ball he will tag him so he is out. Ha! Already talking smack.

I made all the party hats look like the birds from the game. I had planned on just doing yellow and red birds, but Nikos kept asking me where the other birds were so I didn't want to disapoint.

When Theo asked him what he want to do for his birthday this year, he said he wanted a bowling party. We said ok, that sounds easy. Then a few days later he came to me and said he wanted an Angry Birds party at the bowling alley. At first I wondered how we were going to make that work, but we did and I was so happy with how it turned out. Nikos was so excited and he had a blast! We rented out the mini-bowling room in Mt Pleasant and went all out with the Angry Birds theme. For those of you that don't know angry birds, it is a game/app you can download. Nikos loves to play it, which explains why I don't always answer my phone : ) I loved watching him and his friends have so much fun. Nikos bowled his heart out that day and was grinning from ear to ear the entire evening. After the party was over, he even stayed with Theo to do the "big bowling". Happy Birthday Bug!

The Celebration Begins

Nikos turns 4 on April 5th and we planned a small party at the bowling alley on the 3rd. He woke up that morning and was ready to start celebrating! Before we even had breakfast he was ready to go. I tried to explain that the bowling alley wasn't even open yet and his party was later that afternoon. He told me that the only way he could manage was to open the big present that was sitting in the living room. I decided it was ok. It was an oven and some wooden toys to use with it. He loves to cook and was ready to make breakfast for the family. He cooked the pizza and cookies and we had a picnic on the screened in porch. Rhodes was a little confused, but he went with it.

Several weeks ago a staff member somehow ran across my blog and found the picture of Nikos with my Mother from when we visited last year. We took a weekend trip to TN March 24th through 29th. We spent the first day in Paris visiting with my parents who then kept the boys for a couple nights so Theo and I could spend a weekend in Nashville. We had fun with my borther, John David, and his wife, Tiffan on Friday and saw a Will Hoge show on Saturday night. Sunday, my parents brought the boys up to Nashville and we spent the afternoon at my brothers. The next two nights, we spent at Les and Stacey's house.

Lucas and Nikos are a couple weeks apart and had a wonderful time playing together. They look just like a little Les and Theo. My Mom put together some eggs for them to have an egg hunt and they loved it. We also visited a very cool place called Goofballs in Franklin. ALL the boys enjoyed themselves there.

We had some fun on St Patrick's Day. Nikos came home all week talking about leprechauns so when the day came around, he was ready to see what they would do. The leprechauns were ruthless. They hung Nikos's jacket from the ceiling at school AND took his name label. When I picked him up, he could barely tell me what tricks they had played because he was laughing so hard. I told him I had been gone all morning and i sure hoped they hadn't made a mess at the house! Nikos went in first to see if he could catch these mischievous little men up to no good, but he was too late...the damage had been done. First Nikos noticed the vacuum out and tied in knots. Then he saw that they had taken Rhodes and his socks and put them on all the door handles. After we got all this cleaned up, we took a nap before tball practice. When Nikos woke up, he couldn't believe his eyes! Those leprechauns had snuck back in the house while he was napping and hung his cleats over the light fixture. Next year we will have to watch even closer to see if we can catch them. : )

OQuinn Field Trip - Legare Farms

The 3's at O'Quinn have been learning about the farm so on the 16th, they took a field trip to Legare Farms on John's Island. I went as a chaperon. They had a large playground where the children played and ate a snack. One of the farm owners led a tour to show the children how they plant crops and raise the animals. Nikos had a blast. I had fun as well, but as usual, I wore an inappropriate choice of footwear...I am pretty sure my TB Revas will NEVER be the same.

T-Ball Practice

These are some pictures from Nikos's first T-Ball practice on the 15th. He has been so excited about this. He begs me to let him wear his cleats everyday and at some point we usually end up in the yard with them on taking a few swings at the ball. I am his room mom at school and when I signed him up, I sent out an email encouraging his classmates to play as well. We all requested to be on the same team and they are having so much fun together. They must talk about it quite a bit during class because the teacher asked me about it. I love that they are doing this together. Their first game isn't till April, but right now they practice twice a week. Go Sharks!

Second Sunday on King Street

We went to Second Sunday on King Street today. This is where they close down the street to traffic form lunch till late afternoon. The street is filled with small bands, food carts (think popsicles, ice cream and other treats) and all the pedestrians milling about. Plus the restaurants put several tables out onto the street and serve their regular menu. It was so much fun, especially with this gorgeous weather. The only thing that would have made it better is if Theo was off and could come.

We ran into some friends while walking about including Aunt Margaret and Uncle J with Cameron. Here is Nikos with Michael, who was enjoying a popsicle.

We had lunch with the Marcums at Mellow Mushroom. We promised Nikos and Paisley that if they ate their pizza, we would head over to Robot Candy Company and pick out a treat.

Rhodes tolerated Second Sunday, but he really wanted out of the stroller to walk. Yes he will walk as long as you hold his hand, but ONLY in the direction he wants. This boy is so funny....just when I think I have him strapped in and out of possible trouble, I turn around and he has grabbed an entire box of candy! He is so strong. The sales associate was headed straight toward him, but I had to snap a quick pic first.

They had so much snow that they had to dig out the mailbox for the mail to be delivered.

Rhodes actually enjoyed sledding. Nikos was fine just playing in the snow, but he did go down a few times.This is a funny redskins hat/neck warmer that I got Theo a few years ago. I brought it along because I knew Nikos would think it was hilarious. Rhodes enjoyed playing in the snow until it soaked through his gloves...then he was ready to go inside and warm up.Nikos was so excited to go to the dome. He and Theo had a wonderful time together. Rhodes and I watched it from the hotel room and we saw Nikos on TV twice!February 10th through 15th, we spent in Syracuse. The boys of course enjoyed spending time with YiaYia and Pa as well as playing in the snow. I have been going to Syracuse for years, but this was the most snow I have ever seen there.

Rhodes had his first Gymboree class today. I took Nikos to Gymboree from 4 months to almost 2 years. I didn't want Rhodes to miss out on this because I knew he would love it. Climbing up the slides was his favorite part. He also enjoyed pushing the big log. It was fun watching him enjoy himself. He had a smile on his face for about 90% of the class.

Rhodes at 15 Months

Rhodes turned 15 months on the 21st of January and this boy is a wild one. I never realized how calm Nikos was as a baby until now. If there is any trouble to be made, Rhodes will find it. Even when I think I have everything put away and the room baby-proofed, he finds something to get into. I have learned to unplug anything within his reach, block the outside of the staircase (because climbing up the outside is even more fun!), keep the washer and dryer closed, keep anything away from a table that could be used as a step and most importantly...LOCK the dishwasher. Unfortunately, we had our first accident this month. As you can probably guess by now, Rhodes is a climber. He is able to climb onto most chairs, beds and the couch, but he isn't quite as graceful getting down. While I was putting away clothes in Nikos's closet, he climbed onto the bed and proceeded to try and climb onto the nightstand across the bed from me. Rhodes, the lamp and the nightstand came crashing down before i could get around the bed. When I picked him up, he was bleeding from his mouth and the front of his onesie had blood all over it. I threw them both in the car and headed to see Theo. He ended up having a few cuts in his mouth but nothing serious...this time. It sure scared Mommy!

Even though Rhodes is very rough, he is also very sweet. He loves to kiss and hug, He will just crawl up and lay on you....such a sweetheart.

One other thing I must point out is how much this child can eat. He seriously eats more than me. Also if you have food in front of him, you better be willing to share!

At 15 Months

Can say several words: hi, hello, bye, what's that, want that, Mommy, Daddy, Nana, Daisy and duck.
Will follow some direction...when he wants.
Loves music and dancing.
Loves to play with the ball popper and whatever Nikos is playing with.
Off the bottle. Eats 3 meals and 1 to 2 snacks a day. Drinks a ton of milk and some juice.
Sleeps 11 hours at night and takes 1 2 to 3 hour nap a day.
Likes to pretend to do whatever you are doing. ex. will use napkin to blot face...will hold phone to head and say hello.

The Hibernation Party

This month at school Nikos has been learning about hibernation. The children in his class made a den for a bear in their room...which they named Teddy...and have been checking on him daily to see if he is still sleeping. Nikos has been so excited about this. He comes home from school every day and gives me an update on Teddy. For a while, we had a Chic-fila cow...named Teddy...hibernating under my bed in a shoe box at home. Theo tried to explain to him that cows do not hibernate but he was too excited to listen and we just went with it. Today was the big day where Teddy would wake up so they celebrated in their pj's at the class hibernation party. They also brought a bear from home to the party. I am not quite sure what all this meant, but I do know that they drank a very, very, very special drink called hot coco and that Nikos liked it so much that he had two cups.

Camper of the Week

Nikos was camper of the week again this week at school (Jan 17th - 21st). He took his storm troopers, iron man helmet, rocket and book about planets to school throughout the week to show at circle time. They also get to bring in a special snack one day. He wanted to bring Star Wars fruit snacks... which for some reason they only sell at Dollar General in Paris, TN. Lucky for him, Nana brought 5 boxes so he could take them in and share with his friends.

We spent Christmas in Paris this year with my family. This is my favorite time of year and I had been looking forward to it for a long time. We had such a great trip.We told Vitt when we left that we were going to Nana's and Nikos was excited that he remembered.There were so many presents that we let each of them open one present on Christmas Eve.Nikos put out the cookies he made for Santa with some chocolate milk because that's Santa's favorite! At least it is on Max & Ruby. : )Nikos decorated a gingerbread house earlier in the day. He is very into making patterns so he enjoyed it. I though it turned out great! Nana must have though so as well because she saved it.Nikos put out reindeer food with Nana and then headed to bed so the jolly old soul could come.Rhodes was very excited about his trampoline from Santa. He LOVES to jump and he kept climbing up on it and jumping all by himself. Nikos was going crazy over his Iron Man and Capt Rex and it was hard to even get a picture.After playing with their toys from Santa for a bit, Nikos was ready to pass out the presents. He of course had been begging to open them since we arrived.My brother JD and Tiffan came around lunch to exchange presents. We had so much fun with them and they did a great job carrying on the Iron Man and Star Wars theme.Nikos played with every toy he received, which took all day!

White Christmas

We actually woke up to a bit of a white Christmas. Nikos loved playing in the snow. There were only a couple of inches, but it didn't keep Nikos from making snow angels and even a small snowman.

Visit with the Lennings

Another family we were able to spend some time with was the Lenning family. Theo and I travel quite a bit with Les and Stacey, but after meeting up with them I have decided all future travels will have to be with the kids as well. Nikos is all boy and SO into superheros, sports, trucks, wrestling around and "blasters" as I call them. Lucas was right in tune, and they had a blast. I wish Lucas could come over and play more often because they kept eachother entertained
without bickering or sharing issues. Just like a mini Theo and Les...haha. One of the cutest moments was when we were leaving, Lucas was getting upset and Nikos said...It's okay Lucas, you can just come with us to Charleston.

Sam....oh Sam. What to say....I didn't realize a one and a half year old could have that big of a personality! He is so funny, but Stacey...I fear you will have some greys from that one. : )

Thanks for letting us use your house as a pit stop on our way home.

Hardin Visit

We had a wonderful opportunity to get together with the Hardins' this Christmas. They live in Phoenix, but were in Fairview, TN visiting her family for the holidays. On our way to Paris we stopped in Nashville and met them at the Lummas's house. It was nice to see them as well. I talk to Misty daily on the phone so it doesn't seem like it's been that long since I have seen her, but it has! Maggie had grown into a confident, talking, beautiful little girl and Cece's was even more gorgeous in person with that porcelain skin and those rosebud lips only dolls have. Between both girls, multiple moves and job changes, Misty and Matt have had their hands full over the past couple years. It was nice to see them in person and witness how strong they really are as a family.

Nikos was too busy tring to keep up with William, so we didnt get a pic of everyone. We hope to visit PHX soon.

The boys were very lucky to have some one on one time with Santa this year. He made a special trip to Charleston to spend some quality time with some very lucky little ones. The boys had so much fun and to be honest I had a blast watching. I told Nikos he could read a book with Santa and he took his own Star Wars book. So funny!

Folly Beach Christmas Parade

We attended the Folly Beach Christmas Parade this year. Melanie and Paisley were there to share in the festivities. Even though it was a little chilly, they had fun and somehow managed to get more candy than on Halloween.

When they starting playing this song Nikos yelled..."This is my favorite!" so I picked up the flip and started recording. I think they were supposed to be singing quietly at first, but Nikos was just as loud as he usually is. : ) He also got a little confused on the words, but he thought it was so funny. He loves watching this video.

Santa also came for a special visit.

The O'Quinn Christmas Program was very cute. All the music was played on a harp while the children sang...very sweet. I have been asking Nikos for a week if he sings any Christmas songs at school and if he would be preforming them. He talked quite a bit about the "concert", but only sang Jingle Bells and showed me a few hand gestures from other songs. He said he couldn't really remember them. When the show started, he actually did a pretty good job. At one point, he started making nosies and messing with the boy beside him so in our home video you can clearly hear the teacher say..."Nikos Stop that." He seems to be a rowdy little boy, but I guess I am glad he is not painfully shy like I was as a child.
